Later an Inspectorate General of Military (Army) Aviation, became the third agency with oversight over the army. It was controlled by the Imperial Army General Staff Office and the Ministry of War, both of which were nominally subordinate to the Emperor of Japan as supreme commander of the army and the navy. The Imperial Japanese Army was the official ground based armed force of Imperial Japan from 1871 to 1945. Approximate size 7 1/4 (58cm) larger if you remove pads.

Excellent complete three pad leather liner, with all pads still present and Japanese ink markings on interior. We've never had an example like this as they are rare and exceptionally difficult to find. This helmet is such an example and was not produced from steel but some type of alloy that is both lighter and thicker than the steel normally used on a typical type 90 steel helmet. Late in WW2 Japan was very short of raw materials and were producing numerous "last ditch" weapons and gear out of substandard supplies. This is a very rare example of late war produced Japanese Type 90 Army Helmet.
